About Us

Turon is a first-generation family-run winery located in the Lenswood subregion of the Adelaide Hills. We are committed to minimal intervention and sustainable practices, producing vegan-friendly wines that showcase the natural characteristics of our terroir.

We custom-built our small-batch winery to help us focus on crafting elegant, complex wines that reflect the best of the cool-climate region. We are currently growing grapes and planting vineyards on our property with biodynamic and organic principles, ensuring our wines are as environmentally conscious as they are enjoyable.

Turon

B.Oenology (Hons)

Turon graduated from Adelaide University in 2010. Working for various wineries during and after university, Turon identified that the Adelaide Hills was where he ultimately wanted to lay his winemaking hat.

He has over 10 years of winemaking experience in the Adelaide Hills, working for some premium wine producers.

Overseas vintages in Oregon, USA, and Eger, Hungary, has helped to cement Turon's passion for cool-climate winemaking.

Alex

B. Physio, CertWHS, MAICD

Alex is a trained physiotherapist with background in business management and work health and safety.

Alex’s heart lies in the country and she loves being a part of the hills community.

Turon and Alex were married in over a glass of wine in the hills and have a two young daughters, Pip and Elle.

We aim to create elegant wines with intense flavour, wines that are approachable and yet intriguingly complex. 

With a love for the environment and sustainable practices at every step. We grow grapes and produce wines with minimal intervention. These are vegan-friendly and express the natural characters of our terroir and the grape variety.

Our minimal intervention approach to winemaking means having the confidence to stand back and let the wine be itself, but the knowledge to step in and guide the wine in the right direction when necessary.

Ultimately we endeavour to create wines that bring enjoyment and joy.

SUSTAINABLE

Our winery is organically and sustainably certified. We consider all of our actions to do good.

Building our own winery and planting our own vineyards has allowed us to plan for the future. Much thought has been put into sustainable practices in our vineyard and winery development. Our aim of growing fruit in harmony with our environment has meant a great deal of geographical and geological study to ensure the long term suitability of each planting in the vineyard.

Our vineyard management practices promote soil carbon storage, micro-flora growth and regenerative agriculture. We also take a sustainable approach in our winery and winemaking practices by ensuring we choose practices that reduce our carbon emissions and waste.

LOW-FI

We grow grapes and produce wines with minimal intervention. Our wines express the natural characters of our terroir, showcasing the fruit’s vibrancy and purity. Working for many years in organic and biodynamic vineyards, Turon was naturally drawn to the balance with nature these vineyards had and the attention to detail in the fruit grown, which ultimately led to wines of immense quality and character.

The role of the winemaker is to work with the unique characters of each vineyard and the variabilities of season to produce wines that are a natural reflection of the vineyards they are sourced from.

INDEPENDENT

Being a family owned estate has given us ultimate control to be uncompromising in our quality and values. We are first-generation winemakers, constantly chasing perfection and refinement of the grapes we grow and wines we make.

VEGAN

Our wines are not manipulated. They are approached with a less is more attitude and are vegan by nature.

ESTATE

We are located in the beautiful subregion of Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.

In 2017, we built our custom small-batch winery with the aim to showcase varieties that best suit our cool climate region.

Currently, we are developing our vineyard with biodynamic and organic principles in mind. In 2020, we planted a low yielding, high density vineyard, which we are really excited about. Our property’s altitude ensures we have cool nights, perfect for creating fresh vibrant wines, and beautiful daytime sunlight, creating incredibly rich and expressive fruit.

The Adelaide Hills is a pristine gem in the South Australian landscape. Ultimately it was the quality of the fruit that drew us here.

Geographically it is one of the most diverse wine regions in Australia. It offers a large number of subregions and pockets with a potential to grow a great many varieties.
